In this musical example the Continuum is used for the lead lines. The sound source is the Roland V-Synth XT. From the artist:
I have the bend range set to 36 semitones. The X axis is mapped to pitch. The Y axis actually controls the depth and harmonics of the V-Synths feedback oscillator, while the z (pressure) is controlling Midi Expression. The instrument has an amazing setting that does rounding (pitch correction) not only on the attack of a note but even after my finger slides to another note. Magic....
I 've been inspired to create many lead type Continuum patches controlling the V-Synth.
The Continuum Solo in Octavarium switches about half way into a lap steel solo (which I also played).
Jordan was recently interviewed in Keyboard Magazine. You can find that interview here.
This Octavarium excerpt is from the Dream Theater album of the same name. More info about Octavarium and Dream Theater can be found at their official site.
